HONG KONG, Sept. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Green Product Mark Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony" was successfully held between TUV Rheinland Group (hereafter referred to as "TUV Rheinland"), the world-renowned independent testing, inspection and certification organization, and the Huawei Group at the Huawei Connect 2016 conference. Jay Yang (Vice President, Electrical, TUV Rheinland Greater China), Tao Li (Vice President, Marketing, TUV Rheinland Greater China), Sven-Olaf Steinke (General Manager, Electrical, TUV Rheinland Greater China), Kun Niu (Chief Officer, Switch Products, Huawei) and Xinghai Zhang (Director, Global Certification Center, Huawei) attended the signing ceremony. The strategic agreement will strengthen collaboration between the two companies on green energy conservation, reduction of hazardous substances and environmental compliance for electronic and electrical products. It will also help enhance the safety, environmental friendliness and sustainability of Huawei's global products and solutions.

The signing of the Green Product Mark certification agreement by the two parties on the day signaled their mutual interest to engage in long-term strategic cooperation within the field. According to the agreement, TUV Rheinland will provide Huawei with customized green product testing and certification services that will help Huawei realize product energy performance that exceeds the market standards. Superior energy-savings will give Huawei products an advantage over the rest of the ICT industry.

During the signing ceremony, TUV Rheinland presented Huawei with the TUV Rheinland Green Product Mark for its S5320-56C-HI/S5320-32C-24S-HI switch. The Huawei S5320-56C-HI/ S5320-32C-24S-HI is the company's new Gigabit Ethernet Agile Switch and provides a rich array of agility features. The switch product supports a variety of new energy-saving technologies as well. EEE technology means the switch is immediately operational upon power on. When a switch port has no traffic then the port's PHY chip switches off to reduce the energy consumption. Switch energy efficiency is therefore increased by 30%. The switch also supports system hibernation. When the switch has no traffic then the switching chip can be put into hibernation mode as well to reduce system energy consumption by more than 63%.

The TUV Rheinland Green Product Mark is a voluntary certification for consumer products and their environmental impact. Product testing and certification is based on relevant certification standards and requirements for each product type. These standards are in turn based upon social responsibility review and regulatory requirements. The international standards in the four aspects of chemical substances, recycling, energy efficiency and product carbon footprint are taken into account as well.
