BEIJING, Dec. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Hubei Energy Group, a subsidiary company of China Three Gorges ("CTG"), has stepped up efforts in operation and management of its hydropower plant project in Peru. The company strives to create a better working environment for its employees and a better community for local residents amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, CTG led a consortium formed by the subsidiary Hubei Energy Group, Ace Investment Fund, a CTG clean energy fund, and CNIC Corporation, acquired the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant project from Brazilian group Odebrecht. After the acquisition, the ownership and operation of the plant passed to the CTG subsidiary. The company has been working with Huallaga during the past year to build an effective management system and foster a cohesive community to fight the pandemic. What the pair have achieved in cooperation has largely driven the implement of the project.
Protect environment and support local community
The CTG Hubei Energy Group has been monitoring the impact of the project on the environment since the first day it took over and a range of work has been done to preserve the local environment. The company has also been working with the local community to improve transportation. It offers a free commute bus for residents and free water transportation in the plant area. In addition, to make the community lead a better life around the plant project, the company has financed the building of aquaculture facilities to develop fishing and fish-farming.
Create better work environment and increase efficiency with enhanced regulations
Together with Huallaga, the CTG subsidiary has amended some 300 SOP documents and regulations. Based on the local law, the company has amended and launched internal regulations for employees, as well as guidebooks to clarify duties and overviews of different positions. The internal regulations clarify the rights and duties of each employee and make sure they receive the benefits they deserve.
In terms of the management system, the company has adopted a three-layer structure of shareholders, the board and general managers. A wide range of revisions have been made to facilitate the decision making at the top.
Build independent and safe IT systems
After the acquisition, the company transferred its online system to ensure a secure and independent system that would be the backbone the project's digital management. It has developed specific internet access for the project and also launched SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. In a world increasingly driven by technologies, cyber security and digital innovation are the key to a company.
As the foreign operator of a major power project in Peru, the CTG subsidiary has been trying hard to help with the local response to the pandemic. The company has donated aid resources to businesses and residents in the area. To keep the plant running and generating electricity for local people, the company designed emergency plans for the plant to operate while fighting against the pandemic.
