NEW DELHI, India, May 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- COVID-19 has led to the closure of schools across the globe. In the absence of classrooms, education worldwide has drastically changed. There has been a distinctive rise of e-learning initiatives, where teaching is being undertaken via digital platforms.
Eye Level has been a pioneer of blended learning right from the outset. Keeping the need to motivate and engage students through this difficult time, Eye Level has decided to conduct its 2020 Eye Level Math Olympiad (ELMO) online and India will be the first country to conduct the event. The aim is to promote mathematical talent throughout the country, as well as give students a fun exercise during the lockdown.
Since 2004, Eye Level has been conducting the Math Olympiad annually, with participation of thousands of students across 15 countries. The tests are designed to challenge children's math skills in various areas, including algebra, geometry, reasoning, data analysis, problem solving and operations.
Every year, ELMO is conducted in a pen and paper version, but owing to the current circumstances, the test will be conducted online in 2020. The event will be one of its kinds, especially in India.
And what's the best part of participating in this event? The students with top score in their grades will be awarded with Amazon vouchers that sums up to USD 1,500 (approx. ₹1,00,000). The first winner will receive a voucher worth ₹5,000, followed by voucher of ₹3,000 and ₹1,500 to the 2nd highest and 3rd highest scores respectively. Students getting top 5 scores will be awarded with Amazon voucher of ₹500.
This will be a fun and engaging exercise for children who might be feeling frustrated being trapped within their homes during the lockdown. They are missing their friends and the daily activities they used to pursue. ELMO@Home will be something to look forward to and revive a competitive spirit in them. The event is currently available for students in India only but other countries are soon to follow. If you are interested, please register now at https://forms.gle/3j2GxZsFotJ5oUNg8.
