SINGAPORE, Aug. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Great Place To Work® announced its Best Workplaces in Asia™ for 2023. The list is based on confidential survey data, with 2.1 million individual responses representing the experiences of 5.9 million employees from across the region. Employees reported their experiences of trust, innovation, company values, and leadership, and these rankings are based on that feedback.
Companies are also evaluated on how well they are creating a For All™ workplace experience, where all employees feel included no matter who they are or what they do. At the Best Workplaces in Asia, more employees reported high levels of care, both from their managers and from co-workers.
As a result, these companies have impressive employee engagement with 90% of employees reporting that people give extra effort on the job.
With these more positive workplace experiences, employees were also more likely to want to stay with their company. For employees at the Best Workplaces, 90% want to stay at their company, compared to just 58% at the typical workplace.
"When you show employees how much you care, they will reward you with hard work, higher innovation rates, and higher productivity," said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work.
"The Best Workplaces in Asia demonstrate the value of investing in your employees and creating an equitable environment where everyone can succeed."
"Southeast Asia is a diverse and vibrant market. Despite economic challenges in the macro environment, many economies in this region continue to report on low unemployment rates. There have also been recent reports of workers guilty of 'performative work' in this region. Companies placed on the 2023 Asia's Best Workplaces List however swim against the tide," said Evelyn Kwek, Managing Director, Great Place To Work ASEAN and ANZ.
"90% of their people are willing to give extra and stay at the company. Companies will see a return on their investment when they genuinely care for their people and build a culture where employees can thrive in the workplace."
Companies recognized as 2023 Best Workplaces in Asia in the Small and Medium Category exemplify these values. With people-centric leadership, SMG Swiss Marketplace Group Vietnam has established an exciting workplace grounded in 3 core values of #AimHigh, #ActResponsibly and #BetterTogether. Open Government Products, a modern tech team within the Singapore Government that builds technology for the public good, shows care for its employees through a culture of belonging. Its Donut bot automatically pairs employees bi-weekly to have a meal or coffee together.
Jack Madrid, President and CEO of the Philippines' IT & Business Process Association (IBPAP), also a list-maker in the same category, said: "The award reaffirms our commitment to nurturing an exceptional workplace environment within IBPAP, radiating excellence through our people, and in turn, delivering world-class quality service to our valued members and stakeholders." IBPAP is the primary trade body and advocacy group of the IT and Business Process Management sector in Philippines.
Telkom Indonesia, a multinational telecommunications conglomerate, and a list-maker in the Large category is the only Indonesian state-owned enterprise achieving this award for the second consecutive year. It reinforces their commitment to provide a collaborative, inclusive and employee-oriented work environment.

About the 2023 Best Workplaces in Asia List
Great Place To Work selected the 2023 Best Workplaces in Asia List by analyzing companies' workplace programs and surveying 2.1 million employees across multiple countries in Asia and the Middle East. The responses represent the experience of 5.9 million employees across the region.
To be considered, companies must first be identified as outstanding in their local region by appearing on one or more of our Best Workplaces™ Lists in Bahrain, Greater China (including Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), India, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, UAE, or Vietnam during 2022 or early 2023.
Companies rank in three size categories: small and medium (10–499 employees); large (500+ employees); and multinational. Multinational organizations are also assessed on their efforts to create great workplaces across multiple countries in the region. They must appear on at least two national lists in Asia and the Middle East, and have at least 1,000 employees worldwide with at least 40% (or at least 5,000) of those employees located outside the headquarters country.
