HONG KONG, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation (the 'Youth Foundation') is committed to supporting the development of the Greater Bay Area, the implementation of the Outline Development Plan and leveraging on the integrated advantages of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to deepen cooperation among the cities, further the mutually beneficial cooperation and promote synergies in the Area. Building on the growth engines comprising Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the initiative will continue to leverage on the comparative advantages to develop a global technology and innovation hub, accelerate infrastructural connection, and create a quality environment to live, work and play.

Seizing the opportunity, leveraging on the strengths

The Youth Foundation, a joint effort of youth leaders from various sectors, seeks to support Hong Kong youth in tackling issues in education, career and business development and provides a platform to promote exchanges and integration among the youth in the Greater Bay Area, creating an environment conducive to realise their dreams.

Bringing talents together, driving execution

The Youth Foundation brings young leaders together. Mentors will share their professional knowledge and relevant experiences to help young people to develop in the Greater Bay Area, which aligns with the direction of the Outline Development Plan in nurturing talents.

Mr Daryl Ng, Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, says, "The Outline Development Plan of the Greater Bay Area takes further a number of policy areas that will ensure connectivity in the Area in the long term. The development of the Greater Bay Area also brings to Hong Kong enormous opportunities to bolster economy and livelihood, including promoting diversified economic development and identifying new growth areas to create a better environment to live and work. The Youth Foundation looks forward to building a better future with the youth, under the Outline Development Plan and the key principles of driving innovation, coordinating development, open collaboration, mutual benefit and win-win solutions."

"Around the world, technological innovations are driven by the young generations. In the blueprint for international technology and innovation hub, youth is the key to achieving the vision and the main force in the development of the Greater Bay Area. The Youth Foundation will launch projects conducive to the development of young people in the Greater Bay Area, and will continue to support youth development. When there is an appropriate platform and opportunity, the possibilities of the youth are beyond imagination.  With the vision of "for our youth, for our future", the Youth Foundation will focus on promoting career development of the youth, building platforms and ladders for young people, and providing an environment beneficial to their development.  I hope that our young people can seize the opportunity, broaden the perspective and enhance skills to create a better future," adds Mr Ng.

"The Greater Bay Area Outline Development Plan is a wonderful step in bringing us together.  By connecting the Hong Kong youth to opportunities, we are preparing the next generations of talents and leaders to shape the future of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. When we work together in the Lion Rock Hong Kong Spirit, all is possible," remarks Mr Ng.

Diversifying projects, deepening development

The focuses of the Outline Development Plan include providing Hong Kong and Macau residents with an environment more convenient to convenient, work, start a business and live on the Mainland, strengthening multicultural exchanges and promoting collaborations among young people in the Greater Bay Area, also providing the young with opportunities for starting up businesses, employment and internships.

The Youth Foundation will launch a series of key projects and activities this year. The first batch will include sponsoring local youth groups and non-governmental organisations to set up a youth service platform to enable young people to understand the opportunities in the Area. Exchange and internship programmes will also be organised, including supporting the international talent expos to help young people in Hong Kong who have received vocational education to develop their career in the Greater Bay Area; providing internship opportunities for young people to experience work life, understand the employment market and corporate culture, which will help them to set career goals and strengthen skills.
