SINGAPORE, Aug. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Trade Review (GTR) will welcome delegates from the trade, commodity, treasury and fintech industries to GTR Asia Trade & Treasury Week 2018, taking place at Marina Bay Sands on September 4-7 2018.
Building on its reputation as the world's largest and most popular trade finance gathering anywhere in the world, this flagship event is set to welcome over 1,100 international delegates, 400 companies, 95 speakers, and over 40 sponsors and partners, enjoying the full support of the Government of Singapore.
Proceedings will commence on Day 1 with an address from Enterprise Singapore, the board newly formed under the Ministry of Trade & Industry to champion enterprise development, support local companies and champion the growth of Singapore as a trading and start-up hub. Subsequent discussions will focus on Asian and global trade trends, whilst also considering ongoing concerns over the potential consequences of a trade war.
Following the opening plenary, the conference will split into streams addressing a range of themes, including developments across various commodity sectors (metals, energy, agribusiness), shifts in regional supply chains, seeing through the smoke of tradetech and market disruption, changes in the risk and regulatory environment and the role of China. The afternoon of Day 1 will continue with sections dedicated to fintech and trends in corporate treasury, a highlight of which will be the GTR Debating Chamber, a new debate format whereby speakers argue their viewpoints on contentious issues.
Highlights from Day 2 include a regional round-up of Asia's trade markets ('winners and losers'), discussions over the role of funds and insurers and the inaugural GTR Ventures Tradetech Showcase Competition, which enables technology start-ups to 'pitch' their business models, strategies and activities to a panel of expert judges, with a winner announced at the end of the day.
Day 2 will also see the official launch of the Global Trade Professionals Alliance (GTPA), a new global standard for trade finance and supply chain finance professionals, and the worldwide launch of the inaugural ISO 17065 standard for certifying global trade business.
"With trade now in the headlines more than ever before and with global concerns over protectionism and trade barriers continuing to escalate, this year's gathering will consider both the key risks and primary opportunities from a geopolitical perspective, as well as the ongoing industry discussions over market disruption, new market entrants and the role of technology," says Jeff Ando, Director of Conference Production at GTR.
The week concludes with two days of GTR Training: International Trade & Commodity Finance Masterclass, led by John Turnbull, Director at Certis International and a senior banker and trade finance specialist with 35 years' experience. The masterclass will provide a key resource for delegates, providing interactive analysis of guidance on regulation, best practice and risk in international trade and documentary credits.
With 2018 expected to welcome yet another record-breaking turnout of delegates, this year's event will once again reaffirm GTR Asia Trade & Treasury Week as the essential gathering for anyone involved in Asian trade finance and treasury.
