HONG KONG, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hang Lung Properties is pleased to announce that its innovative community project, the Hang Lung Young Architects Program (HLYAP), has won a Gold Award in the CSR Communications category of the 14th China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations. This is the only gold title clinched by a Hong Kong corporation this year.
This honor follows the three prizes won by Hang Lung for the Communications or PR Campaign of the Year clinched at the International Business Awards 2018, and the merit award earned at the 2016-18 Best Corporate Volunteer Service Project Competition. This latest success is additional recognition of Hang Lung's commitment in promoting architectural education amongst local youngsters by encouraging them to appreciate the relationship between architecture and our communities.
The HLYAP is dedicated to promoting architecture as an important cultural and social asset that is separate from the buildings themselves. The HLYAP's innovative approaches to broadening the horizons and architectural knowledge of the upcoming generation include the use of the latest technological applications of social media and mobile apps.
Mr. Weber Lo, Chief Executive Officer of Hang Lung Properties, said, "As a major property developer in Hong Kong and mainland China, Hang Lung is deeply committed to serving the communities in which we operate. By leveraging on our network and the professional knowledge of our colleagues, the HLYAP is a unique platform for local youngsters to appreciate Hong Kong's architecture, as well as the stories and history behind it. We are honored to have received five solid recognitions not only at the local level but also on the national and international stages. We will continue to support youth development as part of our overall goal of building a better future for the next generation."
Organized by the China International Public Relations Association, the biennial China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations is one of the most prestigious and respected public relations awards in China. It recognizes organizations that have achieved outstanding performances in different aspects of Public Relations and identifies industry models of excellence and good practice after the entries have successfully passed through three selection stages. The judging panel consists of well-known Public Relations scholars, organizations and professionals. Previously, Hang Lung received a Silver Award in the Crisis and Crisis Communications Management category at the 12th China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations.
Launched by Hang Lung Properties in 2017, the HLYAP organized a series of interactive lectures, workshops, a photo contest and guided tours to inspire students to recognize the relationship between architecture and the community. Prominent architects and seasoned scholars were also invited as Program Advisors. The teams winning the architectural tour design competition held in the final phase of the Program had the opportunity to take part in overseas architectural study tours. Throughout the Program year, more than 100 guided walking tours were conducted in which competing student teams, mentors, and volunteers clocked up a total of about 10,000 miles on foot, equivalent to the distance by air between Hong Kong and Venezuela.
The second edition of the HLYAP opens for registration in mid-2019.
