JAKARTA, Indonesia, Aug. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio Farma, Indonesia's state-owned pharmaceutical company, has successfully concluded the Bio Farma x MIT Hacking Medicine on August 24 to 27, 2023 in Bali. Over the course of four days, the Hackathon oversaw 200 chosen participants from 11 countries, curated from over 1,000 applicants from G20 countries and ASEAN member states.

The Hackathon welcomed experts and industry leaders, such as Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Indonesia's Minister of Health; Tedi Bharata, Deputy for Human Resource, Technology and Information of Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises Ministry; Shadiq Akasya, CEO of Bio Farma; Soleh Udin Al Ayubi, Deputy Chief of Chief Executive Officer of Bio Farma; and many more. The Hackathon's global appeal was evident with participants representing diverse backgrounds, expertise, and experiences.

During the Hackathon, participants presented solutions to judges and engaged in a networking Gala Dinner. They also attended a conference featuring 4 panel discussions with experts, industry leaders, and government. These interactions encouraged problem pitching, workshops, and expert sessions, with assessments based on innovation, business models, health impact, and presentation. "Bio Farma facilitates young generations to observe real problems and provide innovative solutions," said Shadiq Akasya, CEO of Bio Farma.

Additionally, the Hackathon marked the launch of Mediverse, a healthcare super-app by Bio Farma that focuses on promotive, curative, and preventive healthcare services for modern and healthy lifestyle.
The Hackathon culminated 3 winning teams from upstream (1st: Colony.jpeg, 2nd: RPs, and 3rd: Sunset Team), 3 from downstream (1st: CEXME, 2nd: AQut, and 3rd: 1ClickAI) – and outstanding participants Anggit Wignya Adi Prasati and Anis Rohmasari. Prizes included a total of USD$10,000 Google Cloud Credit, USD$6,000 cash for the winning teams, and Golden Tickets for the MIT GrandHack 2024 in Boston for the outstanding participants.
