Infinitus participates in the Earth Hour campaign for the 10th year in a row

The company focuses on low carbon and environmental protection

GUANGZHOU, China, April 2, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 30, 2019, this year's Earth Hour campaign kicked off worldwide. As an environmental protection advocate, Infinitus (China) Company Ltd. participated in the campaign for the 10th year in a row, advocating all its employees to take part in the Earth Hour, Connect to Earth campaign. As night fell, Infinitus shut off the lights in its many office buildings, including Infinitus Center, between 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The company's employees actively engaged in the campaign, in support of the initiatives to "Do small things to make great changes, starting with a little bit!" and "Save energy, and go low-carbon in your travels". They also took practical actions in response to the call.

Earth Hour is not simply a once-a-year hour-long event, but rather an annual manifesto to the environment. Infinitus knows that in the process of developing and growing its businesses, the company must achieve harmony with the environment to truly achieve sustainable development. The company has been adhering to environmental protection in its daily operation.

In 2018, Infinitus formally launched recyclable containers in all its 21 distribution centers across the country, marking the rollout of another one of the company's efforts that advocate and take practical actions in support of environmentally responsible behaviors. Use of a single recyclable container avoids consumption of more than 70 single-use containers, and almost fully eliminates the use of sealing glue and filled air foam, reducing carbon emissions by nearly 20,000 tons per year.

At the same time, the delivery routes between distribution centers and stores in all provinces and cities across China have been optimized based on a scientific algorithm to raise the efficiency of the distribution network and reduce the distance traveled while transporting goods by some 30 percent. This not only saves on energy consumption, but also simplifies the execution of logistics and distribution across the entire company.

Infinitus also pays great attention to environmental protection in the daily office environment and launched a charity drive for the "repurposing of clothing, shoes and bags no longer being used by their owners" among employees since October 2018 and recovered more than 1000 items within just three months. In cooperation with third-party organizations, Infinitus donated some 300 items to people in need, while roughly another 800 items were recycled.

A small step in environmental protection may lead to a big step on the planet. Over the years, the company has been active in fulfilling its social responsibilities in six areas: health, quality, employees, partners, the environment and the community, in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Infinitus believes that huge power lies behind individual behaviors and calls on each and every one of us to take actions that contribute our combined strength to protecting our home – our planet – right now.

Earth Hour:

The Earth Hour campaign is a worldwide event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007 and held from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the last Saturday of March annually, encouraging households, communities, businesses and governments to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour in a move to raise people's awareness of the necessity to protect the planet and inspire people to think about climate change and other environmental issues.
