In recent years, Vietnam has been very determined to show that it has become a modern economy, by opening doors of market opportunities and competing through free trade agreements (FTAs). Since 2019, Vietnam has participated in a number of FTAs, such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPPATPP) and the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The demand for clean water in Vietnam is currently increasing in the context of rapid urbanisation. By 2020, the country's urban population is expected to reach 44 million, whilst the demand for drinking water for domestic use will reach 9.4 to 9.6 million m3 / day. Vietnam aims to provide 100% of its urban population access to safe water by 2025. The average water consumption in urban areas is 120 litres per person, per day. The water supply industry is considered a high-stability investment and essential service sector since clean water supply plays an important role in providing clean water to people and businesses.
