Programs promote improving health care quality and achieving up-to-date accreditation

OAK BROOK, Illinois, Sept. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Joint Commission International (JCI) announces it will hold two comprehensive workshops in Singapore for JCI-accredited hospitals and academic medical centers: a new Advanced Tracer Training course, 17-19 October; and an Accreditation Update, 15-16 October. Both courses, taught in English, are focused to provide current, critical information to help JCI-accredited health care organizations deliver safe and high-quality care. Non-accredited hospitals are also welcome to attend the JCI Advanced Tracer Training course.

JCI Advanced Tracer Training, a comprehensive three-day course, is designed to help health care professionals become stronger practitioners in tracer methodology, a focused survey tool developed by JCI in 2007, that provides framework for JCI surveyors to assess standards compliance and patient safety during on-site surveys.

JCI Advanced Tracer Training will provide participants with a unique experience, allowing them to perform elements of using a tracer under close supervision of JCI faculty experts. Additionally, the course provides opportunity to refine tracer abilities through hands-on experience, practicing tracer methodology in a classroom setting prior to participants taking enhanced skills back to their organizations' health care environments.

JCI Expert faculty will immerse participants in a curriculum to prepare them to:

  • expertly conduct all aspects of tracers in their own organization, from pre-planning to improvement planning;
  • serve as their organization's expert by training others on tracer methodology and leading the most difficult tracers; and
  • improve their organization's performance in new and unexpected ways, by using tracers to uncover and correct hidden and persistent problems in the most critical systems.

"Uncovering and correcting hidden patient safety problems before they harm patients is one of the most difficult tasks any health care organization faces. JCI's tracer methodology has been helping organizations around the world identify and solve safety problems, ultimately bringing them closer to zero harm," says Matthew Spurgeon, director, International Field & Digital Education, JCI.

JCI Accreditation Update, a two-day educational event will feature JCI faculty-led sessions on the new 6th edition hospital standards. Participants will learn firsthand about new standards and tips to overcome common challenges of achieving accreditation under the new standards. Presentations on new JCI requirements as well as small-group work sessions to give attendees the opportunity to discuss and better understand the requirements will take place. The sessions will help organizations determine their compliance with the new requirements through interactive discussion with JCI faculty and fellow attendees.

Attendees also receive a generous supply of current, practical JCI publications, including the JCI hospital standards and survey process guides, in addition to other electronic documents on subjects closely related to JCI accreditation.

The cost of JCI Advanced Tracer Training conference is $2,900 USD per attendee and the cost of JCI Accreditation Update is $1,200 USD per attendee. To register or find out about other upcoming JCI events and more, please visit JCI's website at: www.jointcommissioninternational.org.
