SINGAPORE, Oct. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- MyRent, Singapore's peer-to-peer rental marketplace, and Reebelo, Singapore-based marketplace for sustainable electronics, come together to bring the latest smartphones and gaming consoles to Singapore for as low as SGD 30 per week.

With the pandemic driving consumers to spend more time at home, having access to gaming consoles and other entertainment devices is certainly appreciated. "During the initial stages of CB, all the Switches and Playstations were rented out for over 2 months. Access to a larger inventory with this partnership with Reebelo will help us bring joy to even more people in Singapore." says Ishwar Dhanuka, co-founder of MyRent. "We are excited about working with Reebelo, a platform that thoroughly vets their products ensuring our users get access to only the highest quality items." he added.

Operating in Singapore and Australia, with other markets to be launched soon, Reebelo prides itself to be part of the so-called "circular economy" whereby people can sell, buy or rent tech devices via its platform. Reebelo offers a more sustainable form of consumption, as items can have several owners during their lifespan - everytime refurbished and certified by qualified experts.

"We believe in a future where everyone has access to affordable electronics. So, whether it's refurbished or new, outright or renting, buying or selling, it's time we refreshed the way we all look at tech." said Philip Franta, CEO and co-founder at Reebelo. "It's great to be partnering with MyRent and therefore to be facilitating the access to tech devices for consumers, especially during these hard times."

This partnership is reflective of a shift in consumer behaviour around the world with attitudes towards renting items becoming increasingly popular. John Lewis, a luxury furniture brand in the UK stepped into a similar foray with Fatllama, a UK-based product rental platform similar to MyRent, to rent out their furniture.

With short term rentals people now have an opportunity to get a taste of the product before committing to purchase high value items like the iPhone 12 Pro and PS5; or avoid purchasing such products altogether and rent the latest and greatest technology with each year's device refreshes.
