Consumer-centric Health Solution Tracks Fitness by Monitoring Changes in Body Fat & Muscle Mass Composition

SEOUL, South Korea, Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- No matter who you are, staying in shape is a constant challenge. The stress of constantly watching food intake and adjusting exercise routines is the reason that many (at least those who can afford it) spring for a personal trainer. To show their clients real-time results, these trainers often track body composition utilizing industrial-grade bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) machines, capable of accurately tracking even the most minute changes. While the benefits of these body composition insights are universally acknowledged, price and accessibility have long been barriers to widespread adoption.

RIDM Body Scanner Offers a Sneak Peek at the Personalized Future of Healthcare Technology

The RIDM scanner from startup JakkLab has the power to level the playing field and make personal health consultation available to all. The compact sensor fits comfortably in the palm of the user's hand, offering the ability to instantly analyze and track health and fitness. RIDM's unique chipset measures body composition across five frequencies to accurately measure water weight, and is also capable of scanning the entire body across five body cross-sections. Despite its size, RIDM compares favorably with the most advanced devices available -- achieving 94% accuracy when compared to DEXA. This matches the scores of traditional BIA machines with price tags of up to $20,000.

These impressive results make RIDM the first portable device with body composition analysis (BCA) accuracy on par with professional-grade BIA machines. When paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth™, RIDM can codify and send these personalized reports directly to the user's phone. By measuring everything from total water weight to skeletal muscle mass and basal metabolic rate to percent body fat, RIDM provides result-driven insight for improving overall health.

Furthermore, measurement statistics are stored so that when users input their own fitness goals they can track their progress in real-time. This allows users to adjust their exercise regimens and diet for maximum efficiency. By combining the potential of smart connectivity with the next generation of accurate BCA scanners, RIDM brings out the best in both technologies. Equally accessible to users at all fitness levels, RIDM literally places the key to better healthcare in the palm of the user's hand.

JakkLab has launched a Kickstarter campaign designed to help publicize RIDM and draw attention to its full range of applications. The campaign has already attracted considerable interest, even winning the backing of LG Electronics. As the device undergoes its final round of FDA registration and clinical tests, early backers have the option of picking up their own advanced BCA scanner before they become available to the general public.
