HONG KONG, Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 15, Social Enterprise Research Academy (SERA) held the 2018/2019 Fellowship & Honorary Award Presentation Ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Fellowship & Honorary Titles were awarded to 40 outstanding individuals from the private sector, academia and civil society.
Meanwhile in the ceremony, Former Secretary for Education Mr. Eddie Ng Hak-kim GBS JP was inaugurated as the Honorary Chancellor of Social Enterprise Research Academy.
Mr. Eddie Ng Hak-kim GBS, JP, Former Secretary for Education and Professor Alfred Chan, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission officiated at the ceremony. The Social Enterprise Research Academy, through awarding fellowships and honorary titles, recognizes the contribution of distinguished individuals from all walks of life, including environment, society and economics, and in the meantime promotes the spirit of social care in the whole society.
2018/19 Social Enterprise Research Academy Fellows
Professor Eddie Ng Hak-kim GBS SBS, by using the proverb "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." in his speech, encouraged people from all walks of life to regard the fellows and awardees as role models and to strive together for promoting the sustainable development of social caring. Additionally, Professor Alfred Chan Cheung-ming BBS JP addressed the term "equal and inclusive" to the audience, inspiring the citizens to only count on talent in employment and to drive innovation, building a beautiful international city together.

Honorary Fellowship
- Mr. John Montague
Managing Director, The Big Issue, UK
John Montague is currently the Director of The Big Issue Group, an organization which aims to dismantle poverty through creating opportunities, self-help, social trading and sustainable business solutions. He initially joined the group as Managing Director of the Big Issue Invest, an arm of the group in 2013, whose aim is to support social enterprises seeking to make a positive impact for people and communities across the UK. John's initial role was to develop the delivery of social investment and partnerships within the Big Issue Invest. After much hard work, the Big Issue Invest now manages or advises on £170 million of funds, with investments in over 300 social enterprises.
- Prof. Mau-Chung Chang
President, Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan
Prof. Mau-Chung Chang is currently President of Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Distinguished Professor and the Chairman of Electrical Engineering department at the University of California, Los Angeles. Before joining UCLA in 1997, he was the Assistant Director and Department Manager of the High-Speed Electronics Laboratory at the Rockwell International Science Center in Thousand Oaks, California. He had also been the research engineer at TRW and M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings.
- Prof. Liang Liu
President, Macau University of Science and Technology
Chair Prof. Liang Liu, an internationally renowned scholar, is currently the President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Director of State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines, WHO Traditional Medicine Project Consultant, Convener of the First Working Group for ISO Chinese Medicine TC249 Technical Committee as well as the President of the Specialty Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.

Managing Director, Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment Ltd
Mr. Francis Kung, Managing Director and Global Board Member of Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment Ltd., is the former Chairman of Hong Kong Association of Consulting Engineers. Mr. Kung has been the leader in the Hong Kong construction industry, having won many prominent awards; Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment Ltd., under Mr. Kung's guidance, has flourished, and participated in projects worth 20 billion US dollars in total every year; the group has won more than 350 global awards in the past five years.

Mr. Simon Yu, President of Arrow Asia Pac Ltd and Director at China Semiconductor Industry Association, was invited by Shanghai Fudan University as a guest lecturer this year. Ms. Sophia Chan, Principal of Hong Kong Ling Liang Church Kindergarten, has devoted herself to early childhood education over 46 years. Through extraordinary resolution and great vision, she has built an excellent team. Chief Headmaster at St. Hilary's Primary School & VNSAA
Mr. Tsz-Wing Chu, awardee of 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection, is currently the Chief Headmaster at St. Hilary's Primary School & VNSAA St Hilary's School; before that, he was the principal at Baptist Rainbow Primary School. Mr. Chu has always been committed to innovative education and has won various awards; moreover, he represented Hong Kong 4 times in the Global Creative Education Competition held in Brazil, South Africa, Washington and Prague.
