SYDNEY, April 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- St. Vincent's Health Australia (SVHA) will expand its use of Elekta's MOSAIQ® Medical Oncology electronic health record (EHR) to encompass five additional SVHA medical oncology clinics operating in four hospitals located in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney has already been using MOSAIQ since 2015 at St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney.
"Based on our positive experiences with MOSAIQ at St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney, we saw the potential for the EHR to improve not only the patient experience, but also to provide a robust source of patient information for our clinicians working in other facilities sited, in some cases, many hundreds of kilometers apart," says Sally Fleischer, SVHA's Chief Nursing Information Officer.
MOSAIQ Medical Oncology is Elekta's premier EHR for streamlining the management of care for patients undergoing chemotherapy. MOSAIQ manages all aspects of the chemotherapy program, from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. With MOSAIQ Medical Oncology, a single database aggregates all of the clinic's patient data, clinical regimens and pharmacy information so providers can deliver the best possible care for every patient.
"Cancer care management is important to SVHA," Fleischer says. "The decision to extend the implementation of an electronic system that enables patient scheduling, electronic management of cancer care protocols and a single view of the patient's journey throughout our cancer care units, will enhance our patient's care and give our clinicians access to all of the data they need."
Joining SVHA's St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney, as part of the MOSAIQ Medical Oncology network, will be Mater North Sydney, a private hospital (New South Wales); Holy Spirit Northside, a private hospital in Brisbane (Queensland); St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (Victoria), a public hospital; and St. Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne (Victoria), which has facilities in the Melbourne suburbs of East Melbourne and Fitzroy.
"Expanding their MOSAIQ Medical Oncology network to six hospitals will allow SVHA caregivers to access patient information from a single database, which will improve patient care and help standardize care protocols throughout the network," says Elekta's Shaun Seery, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific. "It's a great honor to partner with Australia's largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider."
