SHANGHAI, Nov. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The second China International Import Expo (CIIE) officially kicked off in Shanghai on November 5th. France has been actively supporting this event in its capacity as a guest country of honor. Thales, a global leader in digital identity and security, and a trusted partner with Chinese local businesses across various industries, has brought to the expo a number of innovative products and solutions. Thales has also signed agreements with Chinese partners to demonstrate its long-term commitment for a win-win cooperation in China.
CIIE is the world's first import-themed national-level expo. And it's the first time that Thales in China showcased its full breadth of different market activities in aerospace, ground transportation, digital identity and security in one show.
In aerospace, Thales brings technologies and solutions across the entire spectrum of air travel, from cockpit and cabin systems to air traffic management, including civil radar application, in-flight entertainment, helicopter training solutions, urban air taxi, and UTM solution. These technologies help enhance connectivity between the ground and the cabin, improve air traffic operation efficiency and safety, provide extraordinary inflight experience for passengers, and drive digital transformation in the aviation industry.
In the area of ground transportation, Thales showcased digital solutions using big data and deep learning technology to improve operational efficiencies and passenger experience in urban transport. Thales also showcased innovation programs including the one using a combination of multiple constellations (such as GPS and Beidou), digital maps and AI in a rail environment for the benefit of next-generation autonomous train positioning systems.
This year, the main venue for CIIE is fully covered by the 5G network. Thales brings its industry-first 5G SIM which brings improved data privacy, seamless 5G global roaming and enhanced protection against hacking to anticipate future requirements. Thales also exhibited other digital identity and security solutions including the next-generation eSIM and IoT products etc.
During the French President's state visit to China, Thales inked agreements with various Chinese partners.
In support of Peking University's ambitions to fulfill China's "National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure Project" and develop "Laser-Driven Multi-Beam Facilities" at Beijing Huairou Science City, Thales, Peking University and Ecole Polytechnique signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Physics in the Great Hall of the People. This agreement aims to promote trilateral R&D and joint facility collaborations in areas such as high energy, high density and laser physics, setting a solid foundation for future cooperation in scientific research between France and China.
Thales and China ATMB reached agreement to strengthen the collaboration in the air traffic management area, including the trainings on air traffic control systems, support on the automation system upgrade, cooperation on digital transformation of ATM, cooperation on UTM solutions & technologies, and further development of BEST Joint Venture.
District People's Government of Haidian Beijing and Thales signed Cooperation Agreement on science and technology innovation in the field of aviation and smart cities. The two Parties will work together on a comprehensive innovation and cooperation in aviation automation, 5G, artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing to improve the air traffic efficiency and provides support for the development of smart cities.
