HONG KONG, April 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of the first organizations worldwide, TUV Rheinland Hong Kong has been designated as a Notified Body by the Testing and Metrology Directorate (BTMD) in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MOICT) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, providing conformity assessment and registration services for manufacturers and importers under the national Energy Efficiency Labelling program for air-conditioners.

Bahrain's energy label for air conditioners has been mandatory since 2016. Previously all registrations could only be submitted by the local vendor or importer in Bahrain to the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA). Starting April 1st, 2021 all applications must be submitted exclusively to the designated third-party Notified Bodies. From now on, overseas manufacturers can directly apply to a Notified Body. As TUV Rheinland we can provide manufacturers and importers with one-stop energy efficiency testing, evaluation and registration services in accordance with the requirements of Bahrain's energy efficiency technical regulations and standards.

The scope of the regulations covers air conditioners of window-type or split-type, ducted or non-ducted, up to cooling capacities of 70,000 BTU/h (equivalent to 20 kW). As part of the energy efficiency registration, a valid G-mark certificate must be provided, and the destination country on the certificate must include Bahrain. After the technical assessment and registration process is completed, an energy efficiency label and certificate will be issued with a validity period of 3 years.

TUV Rheinland has already obtained Notified Body recognition for the GSO G-mark (GCTS), Oman Energy Efficiency, UAE ECAS & EQM, Saudi Arabia SALEEM, and Kuwait KUCAS. TUV Rheinland can support you with complete Market Access Solutions for the Gulf Region markets of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and Iraq.
