SINGAPORE, Feb. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Singapore-based tech startup WillCraft announced that it will be offering online lasting power of attorneys (LPA) from 20 February 2019 in addition to its offering of online wills, and both online drafting services will be offered in Mandarin which will be available on the same date.

Founded by former private wealth lawyer Alvin T'ng, WillCraft was the first online will drafting platform in Singapore, commencing its services in late October 2018. Since its launch, WillCraft has seen more than 11,000 visitors to its website at https://www.willcraftnow.com.

The online lasting power of attorneys (LPA) drafting service is in line with WillCraft's commitment to making legal services more accessible to consumers in Singapore by leveraging on its state-of-the-art document automation and assembly technology to lower legal costs, and to deliver affordable legal solutions. Customers may draft their lasting power of attorneys (LPA) online with packages starting from just S$39. There will be an additional S$49 for legal fees payable to the certifying lawyer if the review and certification is in English, and S$59 if the review and certification is in Mandarin.

The application fee waiver for lasting power of attorneys (LPA) (Form 1) announced by the Office of the Public Guardian will apply to all lasting power of attorneys (LPA) (Form 1) that is drafted on WillCraft's online platform. The application fee without the waiver is currently at S$75 for Singaporeans, S$100 for Singapore Permanent Residents and S$250 for foreigners.

In addition to the convenience gained from the use of an online service, WillCraft's online LPA drafting service is estimated to be able to save the consumer up to S$300 in fees in comparison to engaging a lawyer directly.

WillCraft's online will drafting service will still be in operation and there will be no change of prices – packages start at S$49, and users may still choose to engage a lawyer to witness and review their will for a flat fee of S$79. The witnessing and review will cost $89 instead if the process is done in Mandarin.

Both the online lasting power of attorneys (LPA) drafting service and the will drafting service is supported by two local law firms, Legal Inc Law Corporation and Robert Wang and Woo LLP. The platform allows customers to choose from a curated panel of law firms to execute and certify their lasting power of attorneys (LPA) or to have their will reviewed and witnessed. Founder of WillCraft, Mr. Alvin T'ng, shared that "in addition to bringing the customer convenience, and cost savings, the decision to rely on a panel of curated law firms ensures that the customer gets quality legal help, and a good level of customer service."

On future plans for WillCraft, Mr T'ng said that "launching online lasting power of attorneys (LPA) is WillCraft's first step to providing a full suite of personal legal services" and hopes that the Mandarin portal will be helpful to the Mandarin speaking community in Singapore. He highlighted that WillCraft remains committed to providing the average Singaporean better access to personal legal services, and will continue exploring areas where it can provide a better, and more accessible customer experience through the use of innovation and technology.
