BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Wiwynn, the worldwide leading open server and cloud IT infrastructure provider, today announced to exhibit of its edge server solutions enabling 5G open vRAN and MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) applications in MWC 2023. Wiwynn EP100G2, based on the newly launched 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor, and ES200 will be showcased to address the growing demand for computing power to realize cloud-native open RAN, smart factory, immersive entertainment, low-latency CDN, and XR-based training at the edge sites.

Wiwynn EP100G2 is a 3U5N/3U3N short-depth server platform with options of 1U and 2U sleds. It can be flexibly configured to support different CPU TDP and GPU for 5G open vRAN vDU/vCU and MEC deployment at varied scales. In addition, the single CPU sled design of EP100G2 simplifies the configuration and management and makes the deployment more dedicated.

In collaboration with Intel, Wiwynn has built a series of short-depth edge servers capable of executing Intel FlexRAN reference software, Intel DPDK, Intel Speed Select Technology, and other network and accelerating solutions. 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors further enable EP100G2's exceptional performance with advanced per-core computing power and embedded accelerator engines, including Intel QuickAssist Technology (QAT) and newly added Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) instructions for vRAN, in addition to Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (AVX-512) instruction set architecture (ISA). EP100G2 will deliver up to two times capacity gains for vRAN relative to the previous generation of servers based on 3rd Gen Intel processors and support advanced capabilities like high-cell density.

Wiwynn is the leading open server provider and active member of open ICT communities including, Open Compute Project (OCP) and Open Network Foundation (ONF). For the next-generation mobile network architecture and edge applications, Wiwynn joined O-RAN ALLIANCE and Telecom Infra Project (TIP) to actively build the ecosystem through O-RAN ALLIANCE Plugfest and field trials globally. Through the collaboration with CHT in Taiwan, Ciena in Germany and the US, Deutsche Telekom, HAWE Telekom in Poland, and Telefonica in Spain, Wiwynn's edge servers have been proven perfectly to work for open RAN CU/DU, smart factory, immersive entertainment, low-latency CDN, and XR-based training at the edge sites.

"Our goal is to provide flexible, scalable, and optimized platforms that power a wide range of applications at the edge," said Steven Lu, Wiwynn's Senior Vice President. "Integration for different use cases with a broader ecosystem of partners is key to success. We are excited to showcase some of them at MWC 2023 and will deploy more at scale."

"Intel continues to expand our product portfolio and grow a vibrant ecosystem to help accelerate the transition to a cloud-native RAN," said Cristina Rodriguez, Vice President of the Wireless Access Network Division, at Intel. "The availability of Wiwynn's EP100G2, based on 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, including those with Intel vRAN Boost, is a proof point of how our ecosystem is enabling service providers to develop energy efficient networks and realize TCO savings."
