SHANGHAI, Aug. 11, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries ("ZPMC") has officially released its first ESG report, detailing the group's ESG development impact from the three scopes with key data and diagrams as well as actively responding to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The report systematically reveals the company's achievements in corporate governance, market development, sci-tech innovation, environmental conservation, employee support and care, social welfare, media communication and more in the previous year, divided into three chapters.
Sustainable growth to build a better ecology
ZPMC, committed to achieving "dual-carbon" goals, strives to build "zero-carbon ports" through the establishment of intelligent ports. This is done by providing effective carbon reduction solutions for global ports. The company's self-developed straddle carrier has upgraded from the original diesel and lithium hybrid power system to the pure electric 601330 system of hydrogen-fueled cell and lithium battery, achieving zero emissions.
ZPMC also continually conducts R&D on welding fumes, reducing the concentration value by 60 percent on average at each operation point. This is lower than the national standard and significantly improves the working environment of production workshops.
Giving back to win a brighter future
ZPMC upholds the principles of fulfilling social responsibilities and giving back to society. In 2022, ZPMC donated 1 million yuan (USD 138,700) to support the development of Lanping County in Yunnan Province, which included hiring 111 local employees. It hosted various public welfare events to support both the employees and students in Yunnan, helping them to realize their wishes.
Transformation and innovation to achieve high-quality development
ZPMC is driving high-quality development with innovation. It has initiated a series of vital science and technology projects, including the R&D of autonomous technology for key subsystems of single-unit automation for harbor machinery, enhancing its industry chain with greater independence and control.
ZPMC's flagship portfolio expanded in 2022 with groundbreaking achievements, including the world's largest 140-meter-class pile-driving barge, the "Wudongde" and "Baihetan" wind power construction vessels, and the world's first automatic disassembly and locking machine.
"Looking ahead, ZPMC will continue to uphold our original vision and commitments, thrive to meet the expectations of our stakeholders to fulfill our responsibilities, further seek more advanced development, and create greater value for the society," said Liu Chengyun, Party Secretary and Chairman of ZPMC.
