Each Unit Weighs 181 Tons
SHANGHAI, April 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Following Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's visit to China, China-based port equipment supplier Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) dispatched several pieces of heavy construction equipment to Brazil, in a move that is expected to help advance the economic and social development of the country while making greater contributions to the consolidation of Sino-Brazilian relations.
ZPMC recently completed the uploading of 5 rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes. The units are now in transit to Itapoa Port in Brazil. The cranes, specially designed for the Brazilian port and each weighing 181 tons, were shipped already assembled so that no special installation is needed and they can be put into use immediately once they arrive at the port.
As the weight of the RTG cranes exceeds that of standard units, there were extremely high requirements for the loading and transportation technologies. Nevertheless, ZPMC, by collaborating with the port and other parties, overcame the challenges in loading and transporting the cranes so as to ensure on-time loading and the integrity of the equipment with no need for last minute rectifications. This marks the successful shipment of the units, and the focus of subsequent work will shift to the delivery and commissioning of the equipment once it arrives at Itapoa.
