The World's Best Player Becomes the Highest Earner in Poker History

DUBLIN, Ireland, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Phil Ivey, the world's best poker player, has moved into first position on poker's All-Time Money List, which is based on tournament winnings in live events. Ivey banked USD $600,000 for his second-place finish at the 2010 Aussie Millions USD $100K Challenge tournament, boosting his career tournament earnings to USD $12,802,783. This places him ahead of previous leader Daniel Negreanu, by approximately USD $400K.

One of the most revered poker professionals of all time, Ivey has earned his reputation as a formidable opponent on the tournament circuit. Starting with a first-place finish in the USD $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2000, Ivey has dominated the World Series of Poker*. In 2002, he took home three bracelets and tied for the most WSOP* wins in one year. In 2009, he scored a further two bracelets before making it to the WSOP Main Event final table, where he added just over USD $1.4 million to his career tournament earnings.

To date, he has taken home seven World Series of Poker* bracelets and tied for sixth place on the All-Time Bracelets List. He is the youngest player ever to win seven bracelets and other than Johnny Moss, no player has accumulated this many bracelets so quickly. In addition, Ivey has made seven WPT Final Tables and earned one WPT title. In January 2006, he was named Player of the Year by the UK Gaming awards, "Bluff Magazine" and "All In Magazine". It's no surprise that he has now claimed his rightful spot as the world's number one tournament earner.

Ivey is a member of Full Tilt Poker's Team Full Tilt, an elite group of the world's best poker professionals, alongside Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen, Allen Cunningham, Patrik Antonius and Tom 'durrrr' Dwan.

When he's not playing poker, Ivey is hard at work supporting some of his favorite charities. In October 2009, he hosted the Congressional Awards Charity Poker Tournament on Capitol Hill, alongside members of the Senate, Chiefs of Staff from both the House and the Senate and other members of the House of Representatives.
