SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The United Nations is set to revise the international standards for automobiles in March 2010. Global unified safety standards will be set for hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles then. The Toyota Prius and Honda Insight's technical specifications are likely to be worldwide standards.

The first Pure Electric Passenger Cars -- Specifications of China had been drafted and submitted to the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) for approval, sources with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) said recently. The specifications set clear definitions for various properties of electric vehicles including power systems, safety and reliability and provide strict and concrete technical indicators.

Chinese new energy vehicle and li-ion power battery industries are attracting the wider attentions of the world.

Major Li-battery enterprises from the United States, Germany, Japan, Korea, Canada and Australia will meet in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China during March 25-26, 2010. Hand-in-hand with departments responsible for setting EV standards like the China North Vehicle Research Institute; complete vehicle enterprises such as SAIC Group, China FAW Group Corporation R&D Center, Foton Motor Group, Shanghai Volkswagen; Li-battery manufacturers like BYD, China BAK, Lishen, as well as li-battery composed materials providers, to discuss the new structure of China's li-motive industry.
