Thunderbird presents award to Merle A. Hinrichs during management school's April commencement

HONG KONG, May 17 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Global Sources' Chairman and CEO Merle A. Hinrichs has received an honorary Doctor of International Law degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The award was presented April 30, 2010, by Thunderbird President Angel Cabrera during the school's graduation ceremony in Glendale, Arizona. Previous awardees include Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Vaclav Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic and Steve Forbes, chairman and CEO of Forbes.

A Class of 1965 alumnus of Thunderbird, one of the world's top schools of international business, Hinrichs also delivered the commencement address. "I am very delighted to receive this great honor," he said to open his speech, adding that he was humbled by the distinguished list of previous honorees.

"They have accomplished so much and have contributed generously to their respective communities. I will certainly aspire to bring continued credit and honor to this legacy," Hinrichs said.
