Messer Will Invest in Shunde of Guangdong

SHANGHAI, May 21 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- On May 19, 2010, the industrial gases specialist Messer entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the people's government of Shunde District of Foshan, Guangdong Province. According to the agreement, Messer will invest 30 million USD for the first phase to build a new air separation unit with a capacity of 600 tons of liquid gas per day in Shunde Industrial Zone. This is not only to meet the growing demand of the industrial gases by the customers in the zone and the surrounding areas, but also to demonstrate Messer's commitment to the local economic development by getting actively involved in the local strategic economic restructuring plan.

Messer Group stepped into the Guangdong market in 1996, and now has a total production capacity of 600 tons of liquid gas per day in Foshan. "We decided to invest in Shunde as we are bullish on the potential of Shunde and its surrounding areas. Besides, the new facility will make it possible for Messer to further its expansion with more resources in the market in Pearl Delta Area," said Dr. Hans-Gerd Wienands, CFO of Messer Group, on the signing ceremony.
