ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The IV Russian-Japanese Investment Forum took place on 12 November 2010. The Forum was organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Foundation, in conjunction with the Japanese Ministry for the Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Association for Trade with Russia & NIS (ROTOBO).

The main theme of the forum was "The investment potential of Russia and Japan: new opportunities for cooperation". Russian and Japanese government representatives, as well as regional, academic and business leaders from both countries discussed the promotion and development of Russian-Japanese cooperation in a variety of areas of production. Prospects for cooperation in high technology industries, including the Skolkovo project, as well as in transport and infrastructure, engineering, medicine, agriculture, and energy conservation, were also discussed.

The event saw the signing of agreements and cooperation memoranda between the administration of the Tver region of Russia and Hitachi Construction Machinery, Vostochnaya Industrialnaya Gruppa and the Sojitz Corporation, the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and ROTOBO, and between Metropol, an investment and financial company, and Nikken Sekkei, an architectural and engineering company, among others (for more details, visit http://www.rjif.ru).

The Russian delegation of more than 200 representatives of Russia's public and private sectors was headed at the Forum by Elvira Nabiullina, Russia's Minister for Economic Development. On the Japanese side, the Forum was attended by Tadahiro Matsushita, Japan's Senior Vice-Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, and about 350 business leaders, academics and government representatives.
