Bardahl, Creata, Decathlon, Mary Kay, Monster Cable, Petco, Sears and Staples benefit from streamlined sourcing in exclusive meetings with nearly 50 pre-selected suppliers
HONG KONG, Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Eight Global Sources Custom Private Sourcing Events were held across mainland China cities from July to October this year, helping top buyers source more efficiently from targeted pre-screened suppliers.
In these Custom Private Sourcing Events (http://www.privatesourcingevents.com/ ), Global Sources (Nasdaq: GSOL) (http://www.globalsources.com/) brought together big international retailers and Greater China suppliers in face-to-face exclusive meetings. Participating buyers were Bardahl, Creata, Decathlon, Mary Kay, Monster Cable, Petco, Sears and Staples.
Sourcing teams of these companies, which represent US$79.3 billion in annual sales, met nearly 50 pre-selected suppliers in the Custom Private Sourcing Events held in the third quarter of 2010.
Global Sources' Chairman and CEO, Merle A. Hinrichs, said: "Buyers and suppliers are eager to do business as trading opportunities expand. Growth momentum is returning steadily in developed economies and buying power continues to build impressively in emerging markets. The International Monetary Fund, while anticipating moderate economic growth worldwide in 2011, estimates a strong upturn of 7.1 percent for emerging markets in particular next year.
"With the trade environment improving, Global Sources' Custom Private Sourcing Events make it possible for major buyers to easily find suppliers that can become perfect business partnerships for them."
Product categories at the July-September Custom Private Sourcing Events ranged from furniture and auto parts to fashion products and iPod / iPhone accessories. Prior to the meetings, buyers provided their sourcing specifications and Global Sources helped them pre-select suppliers offering precisely those types of quality products, vastly streamlining buyers' sourcing strategies for greater profitability.
Hinrichs said: "The fact that more and more leading retailers are joining our face-to-face sourcing events is a constant affirmation that Global Sources delivers quality suppliers to buyers who depend on reliability and consistently high-potential products."
Buyer representation at the events includes:
One participating buyer, Monster Cable's Vice President of Asia -- Pacific Business Development, Leo Lin, said: "As a leading producer of high-end A/V cables, we put great emphasis on product quality and suppliers' ability to meet our requirements.
