(HKSE: 354, "ChinaSoft") today announced the signing of the "National Inter-city One Card Pass Interworking Data Processing Center" Project with the IC Card Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban- Rural Development of the PRC (MOHURD), to build a unified payment clearing and settlement platform for the interworking applications of the national city public transportation one card pass system.
The platform has a general and flexible core clearing engine, and supports massive payment data clearing and settlement processing. It realizes inter-city one card pass interworking based on MOHURD's smart card unified standard. There are ten pilot cities that have already joined in the platform. It will dramatically increase people's experience in inter-city travel, makes communication between areas more efficient, expands regional economic development and increases the level of urban management and service.
Since ChinaSoft and its predecessor successfully implemented the public transportation One Card Pass system for Shanghai city in 1999, the One Card Pass automatic fare collection system and the regional city One Card Pass interworking prototype system have been implemented in 30 cities such as Nanjing, Beijing, Tianjin, Xi'an and Chongqing, serving more than 100 million cards. Among those cities, Beijing One Card Pass system played a very important role during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games for increasing the city's public transportation efficiency. The One Card Pass system in Beijing issued more than 26 million cards in total with daily transactions over 15 million. The One Card Pass system in Shanghai started to operate in 2000. The system has been applied to many different areas and the number of issued cards continues to increase. The system was applied to even more areas during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and earned an excellent reputation. In 2010, ChinaSoft's self owned intellectual property One Card Pass solution was exported to Guatemala where nearly 100 thousand people enjoy the convenience that the system has brought.
