SHANGHAI, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Busy, urban professionals can now take time to be healthier with exercise programs inside selected taxis, thanks to the inaugural Mr. and Miss WOW fitness campaign, created by Touchmedia. Following the Chinese government’s increased emphasis on citizens’ health, Touchmedia has launched a campaign to promote healthier living that will reach over 100 million taxi-riders in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen over the next 14 weeks. Called Mr. and Miss WOW, the campaign has four main parts, “In-taxi Workouts on Wheels” guided exercises for taxi passengers, ongoing health tips for stress, sleep, diet and exercise, a health survey plus a WOW 45 Day Challenge to take charge of one’s health.
Until June 30, passengers in Shanghai and Beijing can use the in-taxi Touchmedia interactive screens to enter the WOW 45 Day Challenge. 100 lucky passengers will be selected for free consultations by professional fitness coaches, nutritionists and dermatologists, with access to gym facilities, and World Health Store nutritional supplements, to help them transform their health in 45 days. Of those that take up the challenge, one male and one female shall be crowned Mr. WOW and Miss WOW respectively, winning an exclusive trip to Paris to visit the Power Plate® Studio!
Passengers who exercise their fingers by completing the in-taxi interactive screen health survey will have the chance to win a state of the art Life Fitness Recumbent Bicycle valued at over 125,000 RMB. First “In-taxi Workout on Wheels” Targeting Busy Urban Professionals
Based on input from 109,654passengers who completed a recent Touchmedia in-taxi, interactive questionnaire, many urban professionals do not feel they adequately care for their health. For example, over half (58.2%) feel they go to bed too late, 1 in 8 passengers (12.6%) say they sleep badly and 7.6% sleep “less than 3 hours per night,” all of which may lead to poor health.
Mr. Micky Fung, Founder and CEO of Touchmedia said, “By launching Mr. and Miss WOW, we aim to enhance the well-being of our taxi passengers. Given that the majority of taxi riders are affluent, urban professionals and white collar workers, Touchmedia’s “In-taxi Workout on Wheels” provides simple yet useful exercises that can be learned in the taxi, then applied while sitting at their office desk. Hopefully, the effectiveness will encourage more exercise. Besides many other health benefits, exercise has been proven to boost sleep quality and help in going to sleep.”
Ms. Wang Yi Ling, a consultant in Changning District, was one of the first to try the program and expressed her enthusiasm. “I know that exercise is good for my health, but I never seem to have the time for it. Now, while I am in a taxi going to work or on my way to a meeting, I can follow the on-screen instructor and squeeze in a bit of exercise! Even just a few minutes a day is good for me. ”
