SHANGHAI, Oct. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- In a challenging advertising market Touchmedia is enjoying spectacular growth. They announced today that screen numbers in six cities in China are on track to double over the course of 2011 and viewers will exceed an audited 50 million per month by year end. Also announced was the addition of several key staff headed by the new CTO, Thomas Tai.
Strong Growth Momentum Attracts Top Talents
Whilst China's media industry has remained relatively strong in 2011, the slowing global economy is clearly beginning to have some impact. However, the growth in expenditure on many consumer products and services is acting as a protection. Touchmedia, because of its focused reach of mass affluents in major cities, has been one of the chief beneficiaries of this trend.
Further, they intend to retain, even extend, their market lead. Micky Fung, Founder and CEO of Touchmedia said, "We are working on a series of new features and programs focusing on mobile marketing, downloads and apps. Our system will also be launched in a number of new cities in the next few months. To support this development we are delighted that Thomas Tai, who has consulted to the company for many years, will join us as CTO."
Thomas has worked in senior management roles in various multinational and China based firms developing advanced wireless and interactive products. Most recently he was Director of Engineering at Novatel Wireless, a Nasdaq listed mobile internet product company, where he was responsible for their China operations. Before that he was Director of HW Engineering at E28, a Chinese ODM for advanced wireless mobile phone products, as well as doing stints at Tellus Technology and Motorola, both based in the US.
Thomas remarked, "It's an exciting time for me to join! Touchmedia's platform reaches an urban, middle class, adult audience, numbering in the millions, every day. That audience is unique, more adult and more affluent than almost any internet base. Clearly they are the global leader in their field and my focus will be on maintaining that technological advantage and enhancing the user experience to exploit the opportunities created by smartphones and other new technologies. Touchmedia's ability to do functions starting in the taxi, but going far beyond, is multiplying every day."
Operating in 6 cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Hong Kong, with new cities coming in the next few weeks, Touchmedia is on track to have 40,000 screens installed nationwide by the end of this year. As well they have introduced a series of new functions. Today Touchmedia has a number of patents for software, hardware and design, making it the leading player in its area both in China and globally.
