HONG KONG, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Venetian Carnival has extended the entry date for performers looking to participate in the inaugural International Jazz & Blues Band Competition.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will see a set of finalists flown to Macao to perform as part of the three-day Venetian Carnival from May 25 - 27, with flights and accommodation sponsored by The Venetian Macao. The hopefuls will also be competing for an impressive cash prize from a pool of HK$500,000 (approx. US$64,000).
"Entries to date have exceeded expectations with the sheer number of high-calibre talent," said Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales and Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited. "We received a flood of interest from not just Hong Kong and Asia, but from as far away as Australia and Europe.
"Extending the entry closing date to May 4 seemed an obvious decision to allow more talented artists the opportunity to enter, elevating the competition even higher and further shining a spotlight on this wealth of creative musical talent."

Entry Details
Reviewed by a panel of industry-leading music veterans, 12 successful entrants will enjoy a package of flights, ferry tickets, accommodation and food & beverage. The competition is open to individual artists, vocalists and instrumentalists alike as well as groups of up to six musicians.
First Place: | HK$250,000 (approx. US$32,000) |
Second Place: | HK$150,000 (approx. US$19,000) |
Third Place: | HK$100,000 (approx. US$13,000) |
Entry is easy, with participants asked to share a web link to a live performance via online channels such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
