Leading Events Take Place In Chengdu, A Leader In Holding International Conferences And Exhibitions

CHENGDU, China, Aug. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The 21st International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, themed "Green Nuclear Energy, Secure World," was held in Chengdu from July 29th to August 2nd. ICONE is a leading event in the nuclear engineering industry and known as the "Olympics for Nuclear Engineering Industry." It's the third time ICONE is returning to China.

In the June, the Fortune Global Forum took place in Chengdu. Following Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing, Chengdu is China's fourth host city for this event and the first where the event has taken place in western China. Themed "China's New Future," the Chengdu forum convened over 600 heavyweights from the political, business and academic world. At the forum, Chengdu was named the "City of Fortune, the Capital of Success." Attendees discussed western China's development and the country's role in boosting global economic growth.

2013 is a breakthrough year for Chengdu's international MICE. Chengdu will continue making every effort to be one of China's international conference and exhibition cities through a market-oriented, industry-led "going global" strategy focusing on brand building and standardization.

In total, 213 events, including the 88th China Food & Drinks Fair (CFDF) and the 11th China International Software Cooperation Conference, were held in Chengdu at the beginning of this year. The CFDF featured thousands of exhibitors from 26 countries including France, Italy and the U.S. ChinaSoft 2013 also attracted well-known companies, research institutions, and universities from over 20 countries including the U.S., France, the U.K. and Germany.

With an improved environment for hosting conferences and exhibitions, Chengdu attracts organizers of the world's most prestigious events. The World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention will be held in September for the first time after 12 years. More than 3,000 guests from over 100 countries and regions worldwide are expected to take part in the event -- the highest attendance ever for the convention. To date, Chengdu is the world's only city to have hosted these two major global events in one year.

Chengdu will host many more high-level international conferences and exhibitions, including the 35th IAHR World Congress, PTM 2013, 14th Western China International Fair, China-Arab Business Conference and the 2013 Education Forum for Asia.

The Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition joined the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), a world leading meeting organization, at the end of May this year, becoming the first government body in central and western China to join the internationally renowned Association.

"The Fortune Global Forum 2013 Chengdu is the largest in its history," said Andrew Serwer, managing editor of Fortune. "I believe more leading international exhibitions will be held in Chengdu, as it joins the ranks of the world's leading globalized metropolises."
