HONG KONG, Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DHL Express, the world leader in international express delivery, was singularly honored at the annual Supply Chain Asia Awards when its Asia Pacific CEO Jerry Hsu was awarded the prestigious Hall of Fame award. The Supply Chain Asia Awards, now celebrating its 12th year, recognizes corporations and individuals who excel in the supply chain and logistics industry. Jerry Hsu said: "I am very honored to be singled out by the judges for such a prestigious award in an industry I am so proud to be in. This is the icing on the cake of a momentous year for DHL Asia Pacific in which we have been awarded over 80 external honors across a range of functions, including HR, Marketing and Customer Service."

Since becoming Asia Pacific CEO two and a half years ago, Jerry saw the increasing upswing of Asian business and trade as an opportunity for DHL Express to invest in its aviation network, increase assets on the ground, hire and train employees and promote the DHL Express brand. "There is only one Asia in your life" -- a phrase Jerry uses to rally the 34,000 employees under his leadership and to deliver two consecutive years of revenue growth and continued service improvement, and market share enhancements in international time-definite services in the region.

The judging panel noted: "Jerry ensured that his whole organization is oriented towards enabling frontline employees to operate effectively. His 'Closer to Market' strategy has cultivated an entrepreneurial spirit across the region, and empowered his country teams to improve their local market positioning, and drive even greater growth and profits. This vision and approach is just one of the many reasons our panel has decided to confer this honor on Jerry."

Prior to becoming Asia Pacific CEO for DHL Express, Jerry led DHL's Greater China business achieving double-digit growth. A Taiwanese American national, Jerry has decades of experience with multi-national organizations, has a unique cross-cultural sensitivity and is passionate about Asia's potential, the logistics industry, his employees and his customers' success.

Ken Allen, CEO of DHL Express, said: "For years, DHL Express has been the clear market leader in international time definite services in Asia Pacific. Under Jerry's entrepreneurial and passionate leadership, we have extended that advantage and we will continue to optimize our organic growth potential and become the employer and provider of choice across the region."

Supply Chain Asia Hall of Fame award is given out to outstanding industry veterans and previous winners include John Meredith, Dr. Robert Yap, Tun Dr. Mahathir, Ram Menon, and Dr. Fu Yuning.

The Hall of Fame award brings the total number of external honors won by DHL Express in Asia Pacific since January 2013 to over 80 across 11 markets. Amongst these awards, 27 awards have been attained for Human Resources and Marketing related achievements and 31 have been won in the field of Customer Service. Some of the key awards achieved in this region include, 'Best Employer' in Asia Pacific by Aon Hewitt, a global leader in human resource consulting and outsourcing solutions, with inaugural wins specifically in Thailand, Indonesia and Korea. DHL Express has also been recognized as 'Express Company of the Year' in at least eight countries/regions, including mainland China and Hong Kong in 2013. Significantly, it was named 'Best Express Operator' at the Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards in May 2013. This represented the 25th time that the company has been acknowledged with this award in its 27-year history.
