The newly-established office, located in the Xiamen city center and adjacent to the Xiamen Municipal Government, is intended to serve AmCham South China member companies operating in Xiamen. It is the fourth such facility established by AmCham South China; a similar facility was opened in Shenzhen to better serve the organization's constituency in that southern boomtown nine years ago, and another opened in Shunde last year. In total, AmCham South China's 2,300 members are estimated to account for nearly 40 percent of all U.S.-China trade and investment.

Since it was established as a Special Economic Zone in 1980, Xiamen has attracted a great number of investors from at home and abroad. Every year in September, the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) - the world's largest and most influential investment event, is held in this beautiful costal city, attracting over 50,000 investors from more than 130 countries and regions. AmCham South China has led its award-winning delegation to join this grand event every year. Last year, it created CIFIT history not only by being the largest delegation, with 300 executives including over 100 exhibitors who traveled from U.S., but also for being the organizer of the 700-square-meter U.S.A. Pavilion. This was the largest business pavilion both in terms of floor area as well as the number of participating enterprises.
