From October 11 to 12, the delegation visited such enterprises as CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., Qingdao Port and Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, with an aim to reveal the city's critical role in promoting the development of "Chinese wisdom."

The journalists were impressed by high-speed trains being assembled in the workshops of CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. The company is the cradle for China's first high-speed CRH trains with a design speed of 200-250 kilometers per hour, 300 kilometers per hour and 380 kilometers per hour, respectively. The country's first Fuxing EMU (Electrical Multiple Unit) was also born here. In its trial operation, the CRH380A even created a world record at a speed of 486.1 kilometers per hour. The Fuxing EMU was put into commercial operation at a maximal speed of 350 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest bullet train in commercial operation around the world. CRRC Sifang is exploring the global market at breakneck speed, and its high-end equipment has been exported to more than 20 countries and regions including the United States, Singapore, Argentina, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brazil and Chile.

In Qingdao Port, those foreign journalists saw that the Qianwan container terminal was still bustling with vessels and vehicles and operating in an orderly manner with no human workers in sight. Unlike traditional terminals, this automated terminal boasts a world-leading smart control system serving as its "brain" that can automatically think and make decisions, considerably enhancing the terminal's operational efficiency. Journalists also visited the Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (Qingdao), Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley Incubation Center and Qingdao Robotfish Marine Technology Co., Ltd. in the Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley to learn about how the city boosts high-quality development of the marine economy through technological innovation.

Georg Daniel Fahrion, a journalist from Der Spiegel, said, "During the trip we visited many Shandong enterprises in different fields to conduct in-depth interviews and reporting. The trip broadened my vision significantly. I hope I'll have another opportunity to visit Shandong and conduct in-depth communication with heads of those enterprises in the future, so as to gain a comprehensive insight into their history and status quo."
