HSINCHU, Oct. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- AU Optronics Corp. ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced its preliminary consolidated September 2011 revenue of NT$32,915 million, down slightly by 1.1% month-over-month and 21.6% year-over-year. AUO's consolidated revenues in the third quarter of 2011 increased by 0.9% quarter-over-quarter to NT$98,927 million and decreased by 20.5% year-over-year.
For September 2011, large-sized panel(a) shipments, with applications on desktop monitor, notebook PC, LCD TV and other applications, exceeded 9.88 million units, down by 1.2% from the previous month. As for small-and-medium-sized panels, the shipments were around 18.71 million units, up by 5.4% month-over-month.
In the third quarter of 2011, large-sized panel shipments reached over 29.69 million units, with a slight increase of 0.2% from the last quarter and a growth of 3.6% year-over-year. Shipments of small-and-medium-sized panels in the same quarter reached around 52.04 million units, up by 14.4% quarter-over-quarter but down by 6.4% year-over-year.
