BARCELONA, Spain, Mobile World Congress, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

One API delivers powerful, rich communication services for mobile devices, browsers and applications

Acision, a global leader in mobile services, today announced the launch of Forge by Acision, a rich application programming interface (API) that gives operators, enterprises and developers the power to create advanced communication features in their applications, all from the cloud. As a flexible communications framework, Forge enables accelerated application development with SMS, IP Messaging and Voice connectivity, intelligent routing as well as both mobile and web coverage, allowing enterprises to actively build new innovative services to grow and manage engagement opportunities.

Acision has merged its expertise in mobile communications together with the reliability of its carrier-grade products and services, to provide simple, secure API and SDK access via Forge. The single API interface and self-service access means that almost anyone can leverage Forge to create new applications or add-on services to pre-existing applications and services.

Forge by Acision gives mobile operators the ability to offer out of the box services to a community of developers, who can build communication services for their enterprise customers and enhance innovation within their network. Through the Forge API, Enterprises have easy and direct access to a complete SDK, making the integration of rich messaging and voice functionality simple, secure and reliable. Developers in the Forge ecosystem will have access to a services toolkit that enables quick and easy development, pioneering applications and services for enterprises and consumers. Developers will also be able to and easily access, manage and store their applications within Acision's cloud.

Key services of the Forge toolkit include:

  • Forge connections - enabling enterprises to send and receive messages, exchange files, multimedia content and initiate voice services directly from a mobile application or web services - from SMS to IP messaging and/or VoIP
  • Access to Acision messaging and voice toolkit including WebRTC SDK and REST APIs - enabling messaging and voice to be built directly into any type of application or service
  • A native Android and iOS SDK - providing a powerful SDK which enables developers to quickly and easily build rich communication into their applications
  • Acision's white-label, rich communication client, Fuze - for rapid app deployment and a superior user experience.

Today, enterprises are increasingly finding that when using local aggregators for their messaging services critical peer-to-peer (P2P) and application-to-peer (A2P) messages are often sent via grey routes, causing messages to be blocked at their destinations by carrier spam and fraud systems. Forge overcomes this issue by only using legitimate delivery routes, and offering a fall-back to SMS for urgent and priority messages sent over IP. This ensures all key business communications are securely delivered to the intended end user.

Matt Cockett, EVP Enterprise at Acision, commented, "We have created an enterprise ecosystem, which simplifies the world of communication and helps organisations reach customers and employees. Our highly interactive, high-availability services are backed-up by industry renowned infrastructure and a global support and security network. Acision already has a heavy footprint in the telecommunications ecosystem, and with Forge we are now opening up this network and global connectivity to enterprises, along with a platform API and SDKs for future application and service development."
