- Acision's Real-Time Charging Solution and Missed SMS Notification Honoured at Industry-leading Awards

READING, England, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ --

Acision, a world leader in mobile data, is pleased to announce that it has won two prestigious awards in the Consumer Service Innovation category at this year's Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, which are designed to honour innovative projects involving telecoms operators and vendors. Acision and Setar, Aruba's national telecommunications provider, were jointly honoured for the Service Charging Innovation Award for the deployment of the new Acision Charging Engine at Setar. Acision and Maxis, Malaysia's leading integrated communications provider, were both honoured for the SMS Network Innovation Award for the deployment of Maxis' Missed SMS Notification Service.

Acision Charging Engine, which is at the heart of Acision's Real-Time Charging Solution, allowed SETAR to launch the post-paid / pre-paid hybrid charging service to its users in September 2010. The real-time rating capability of the solution means that users are provided with notifications informing them when they are close to exceeding their spend limit, as well as offering them the flexibility to extend their limit or top-up on demand. This approach puts the subscriber in control, thereby eliminating fear of 'bill shock', reducing churn and encouraging greater uptake of services.

Maxis' deployment of Acision's Missed SMS Notification service, sends customers a flash SMS when an SMS is undelivered, informing them of the reason why (either because the recipient's phone is inactive or the recipient's SMS inbox is full). In the latter case, a prompt is also sent to the recipient, reminding them to clear their inbox. By employing flash technology in SMSC (SMS gateway), an SMS appears on the customer's device but disappears once the customer unlocks the phone, therefore ensuring that the flash SMS does not take up memory in the user's inbox.

Judges of the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards 2011 recognised both deployments as truly innovative consumer-focused mobile solutions. Editor of Global Telecoms Business, Alan Burkitt-Gray, commented: "This is the fifth time we've run the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards and this year we saw more nominations from a greater range of operators and vendors than ever before. This is a sure sign the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to customers worldwide. We've seen a greater number of nominations for services directly aimed at businesses and consumers, designed to give them better services and make their lives easier. Congratulations to Acision, Setar and Maxis on these deployments."

Jorgen Nilsson, Chief Executive at Acision, commented. "We are thrilled to have been honoured with these esteemed awards, which reflect and reinforce the cutting-edge innovation of our new mobile communication solutions. Both Acision's Real-Time Charging Solution and Missed SMS Notification Service provide subscribers with value-added services which enhance their day-to-day communications experience. Our work with Maxis also highlights the relevance of adding new customer experiences to existing messaging services, providing a huge opportunity for the Industry to monetise evolving data services. As the mobile industry continues to be defined by such a sustained level of innovation and change, Acision is proud to have been recognised for delivering breakthrough solutions which augment the end-user experience."

Jean-Pascal van Overbeke, Maxis' Chief Operating Officer, said "Maxis has always been at the forefront in offering innovative services and our Missed SMS Notification Service was developed with our customers in mind, as a way of providing them with a unique value-added service that will enhance their mobile experience. We are truly honoured to have received this prestigious award together with our partner, Acision, and this win will further push us to introduce more innovative products and offerings that will

enrich our customers' lives."
