BEIJING, Jan. 29 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Air China announced today plans to add 2,025 extra charter flights during the 40-day Spring Festival travel season here in China. From January 23 to March 2, 2008, the additional flights (2,025) and seats (273,979) represent an increase of 17.8% and 13.0% year on year, respectively. Focused primarily on domestic destinations in Southern and Western China, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Chongqing, Air China will also have extra international flights to destinations concentrated in Southeast Asia, including Phuket, Angkor and Penang.

The Company estimates that there will be a total of 276 flights for domestic lines from Beijing to Hohhot and Baotou available, as well as 274 flights for domestic and regional lines from Hangzhou to Chengdu, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi’an, Changsha and Hong Kong, etc. Also available will be 777 flights for international and domestic lines from Chengdu to destinations such as Southeast Asia, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wenzhou, and Shanghai-Pudong; 400 flights for domestic lines from Chongqing to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Wenzhou; 156 flights from Guangzhou to Luzhou, Changsha, Yibin and Tianjin; and 126 flights from Hohhot to Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hailaer.
Also, in response to calls from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and General Administration of Civil Aviation of China and for the convenience of Taiwan compatriots, Air China will add 16 extra charter flights to Taiwan during the Spring Festival on February 3, 4, 5, 12 and 13. Lines from Beijing to Taipei and Beijing to Kaohsiung will be enjoyed via aircrafts from Air China’s fleet known as “Auspicious Olympics” and “Beijing Olympics,” during which passengers will be served with Min dialect services and festival delicacies, as well as fine gifts.
