Rural development programs stand to benefit from organization's CSR work

BEIJING, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China (AmCham-China) took the opportunity of its Annual General Meeting to give two checks worth a total of RMB 1.2 million to local charities. The donations highlight one of the organization's key objectives: giving back to the community in China.

AmCham-China Corporate Social Responsibility Committee Co-Chair Andy Andreasen (Shanghai AIAL) presented checks of RMB 700,000 and RMB 500,000, respectively, to representatives from UNESCO to fund rural development projects in China and to the Surmang Foundation to help alleviate poverty through health promotion in rural China.

This is the second consecutive year that AmCham-China has funded both of these organizations.

"It is critically important that these types of deserving groups, which help China's neediest, are confident they will have steady revenue to finance their activities," AmCham-China President Michael Barbalas said. "AmCham-China and our members are proud of our continued involvement."
