CCID Consulting: Intel 45nm Products Gradually Recognized in China

2008-08-12 16:08 3299

BEIJING, Aug. 12 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- CCID Consulting, China’s leading research, consulting and IT outsourcing service provider, and the first Chinese consulting firm listed in Hong Kong (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: 8235.HK), recently released an analysis on Intel 45nm products.

Intel launched seven kinds of 45nm desktop processors in Jan. 2008 and Core 2 Extreme high-end processors at the end of 2007. At the beginning of 2008, Intel has basically deployed 45 nm products.

However, China’s market in 2008 is not smooth. The effects of two natural disasters and turmoil in the international economy are beginning to reflect in the IT market. Especially in computer component channel market, market size has evidently shrinked, that compared with 2007Q2, CPU market in 2008Q2 is down 9.3%. Q2 is DIY market’s traditional slack season, and affected by earthquake, DIY market is down 6.4% over 2008Q1.

Intel’s advanced technology attracts more attention. The overall performance has been smooth in recent two years, with Intel Core continue to do well and 45nm technology keeping ahead among competitors. Compared with 65 nm products, 45nm products have considerable progress in technology and specification, particularly their qualitative leap in superfrequency potential. Technical essential innovation brings warm wind to the market, especially in DIY market. On many professional IT websites, Intel E8200 has entered top three lists in past few months.

45nm products gradually acquire approval. Intel’s 45nm quad-core Q9000 series processors face high-end market; its symbolic meaning is more important than practical significance. The E8000 and E7000 series are more economical to ordinary users. Consumers prefer purchasing the products with higher performance. Because of 45nm procedure’s cost advantage, 45nm procedure’s new processors have more competitiveness in middle-and low-ends market.

In MPU industry, Intel is undoubtedly the pacemaker. Intel’s strong tendency not only presents in technology, but also in the market. With its biggest competitor, AMD not releasing any 45nm product, Intel has absolute advantage. On the premise of stable price, Intel could occupy most of the market through launching relevant products. However, Intel’s biggest challenge comes from its capacity. Latest news shows that Intel’s Fab28 in Israel has completed and will be put into production in September, which is the third chip factory with 45nm technology. With capacity’s enlargement and product lines’ abundance, CCID Consulting forecasts that the share of 45 nm products will account for 50% of retail market by the end of 2008. Intel is the largest winner in this field.
