China Fire & Security Announces Several Key Strategic Initiatives

2007-04-18 21:42 1334

BEIJING, April 18 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- China Fire & Security Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CFSG) "China Fire," a leading industrial fire protection products and solutions provider in China, today announced on April 10th and 11th China Fire's CEO Brian Lin and other members of the management team had an opportunity to present at U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCACP) in Beijing. The purpose of the workshop was to help form a joint cooperation between the U.S. and China in regards to establishing next generation fire protection products for both the International and Chinese markets. One of the key discussions was the use of Linear Heat Detectors or (LHD's) as a primary source of fire detection. China Fire has been at the forefront of this product evolution with the Company's patented LHD's and is helping to formulate and set international standards in the fire detection market. By working closely with international government agencies and in collaboration with the Company's own strong internal research and development efforts, China Fire tries to get its latest technology accepted as the international standard.

LHD's have proven to be extremely beneficial for fire detection within tunnels. Due to the increase in vehicle traffic and limited real estate, the complexity of tunnels has increased exponentially with the number of life loss fires and instances on the rise.

International agencies are searching for new ways to adequately protect people and tunnels. China Fire has sponsored an International Road Tunnel Fire Detection Research Project, organized by the US-based Fire Protection Research Foundation. China has participated and completed Task 1 of the project which was conducted by both the National Research Council of Canada's (NRCC) and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to test the use of LHD's in major tunnels in both Montreal and New York respectively. The tests are going to study fire growth and smoke movement in the tunnel under various scenarios, tunnel operating conditions and tunnel geometries. Information will be used for developing appropriate test protocol and for understanding and optimizing the performance fire detection systems for road and tunnel projects. China Fire is the only Asian company participating in these new tests. "China Fire/ Sureland provided LHD related equipment for our tunnel research program and has contributed a lot to our overall fire detection system proposal. This is a good start for Chinese companies to collaborate with international companies," said Kathleen H. Almand, Executive Director of The Fire Protection Research Foundation.

Additionally as a result of China Fire's leading technology in LHD's, the Company was awarded a contract of over $3 million (USD) for a road tunnel fire protection project with China Three Gorges Engineering Ltd in 2006. China Fire is actively bidding on new projects in 2007 and expects this business to accelerate in the future as the use of LHD's becomes more prolific in tunnels. As the results of these initial contracts and field tests are published, China Fire anticipates working closely with the Chinese government to establish its own set of fire codes for road (including highway) tunnels.

"Through our extensive research and development efforts and collaborations with major government agencies, China Fire has become uniquely positioned to not only win new business but also help to set international precedence as it relates to fire detection and extinguishment," commented Mr. Brian Lin CEO of China Fire. "Our patented LHD's are a key component of our future growth as we look to bring China up to international fire standards while expanding the use of LHD's to new applications. We believe that this market is still in its infancy and are well positioned to capture this long term growth."
