This event was initiated by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA), and jointly organized by The Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific (EVAAP), The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), The European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (AVERE) and the organizing committee of the regional host country.
During a global launching ceremony for a Chinese brand electric vehicle, Professor C.C. Chen, President of the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) said:

The Zhidou D2 launched globally at the EVS28 and was developed and manufactured by the Zhidou Electric Vehicles Co., Ltd. This company is a joint venture among Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd, Xindayang Machinery and Electrical Group, and GSR Ventures. According to a leader of the company, micro travel pure electric vehicles will be the market mainstream in the future. Traditional vehicles are transportation equipment between cities, while travelling within the city requires a more environment friendly, economical, convenient and nimble vehicle. The Zhidou, in taking the lead of the micro-travel notion, creates the micro travel pure electric vehicle market segment. It developed and promotes an energy efficient, environment friendly and intelligent micro travel transportation method, resolving the short travelling needs in urban traffic, easing and avoiding problems caused by traditional vehicles, including road congestions, parking challenges and high expenses.
