HONG KONG, July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards – the esteemed world-class awards commenced at the JW Marriott Hotel with President of Enterprise Asia, William Ng, accompanied by International Advisory Panel, Lt. Gen. Sudhir Sharma and Nicholas Brooke officiating the event. Inaugurated in 2009, the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards Hong Kong aims at recognizing and rewarding top entrepreneurs of the country for their outstanding achievements in their distinctive industries. The night was filled with excitement and celebration as 21 successful entrepreneurs from different industries were recognized in a glamorous awards gala dinner event in recognition of their outstanding performance and tenacity in developing successful businesses within the region.
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award was given to Dennis Lee Seng Jin, Chairman and CEO of Samson Paper Holdings Limited for his pioneering entrepreneurship skills overseeing the corporate business development, steering strategic direction, and having successfully transformed a family-centric business into a professionally managed conglomerate. As a celebrated entrepreneur, Dennis asserts, "determination, perseverance and hard work stems from one's ambition, and these coupled with fairness and capability is the key to my success."
The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Joyce Tsang, Chairman and CEO of Modern Beauty Salon Holdings Limited. Enterprise Asia witnesses more and more women raise to the leadership challenge; Joyce Tsang is one of the most successful female entrepreneurs in Hong Kong. Being an entrepreneur, she faces both good times and hard times; nevertheless, with a positive outlook on things, she says, "Success is only found in difficulties and hardships. Winning in an easy situation doesn't mean you are successful; winning in an adverse situation on the other hand, makes it a true achievement."
This year, 6 entrepreneurs were conferred with the Most Promising Entrepreneurship Award titles while another 13 business leaders received the Outstanding EntrepreneurshipAwardtitles.
William Ng, President of Enterprise Asia noted that through APEA, the organization hopes to create the awareness of the importance of responsible entrepreneurship and investment in people as an important driver of change in nurturing future generations of socially responsible individuals. He commented, "Entrepreneurship is the utmost important element in running a business. The entrepreneurs and businesses that we have recognized today are the torchbearers of the Hong Kong entrepreneurial scene who will shine the path for many upcoming entrepreneurs."
