ESSLINGEN and SHANGHAI, Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- With the establishment of subsidiary company Eberspaecher Exhaust Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. in Pudong, the Esslingen automotive supplier is continuing to strengthen its position in China. The aim is to occupy a leading role in the strongly growing Chinese market for exhaust technology in the future. The company is focusing on both international and local car and commercial vehicle makers.

Richard Hu, General Manager of new subsidiary company Eberspaecher Exhaust Technology Shanghai

For a number of years now, the car supplier has been represented in the Chinese market via a joint venture in Dalian and Changchun. "With the new subsidiary in the Shanghai area we are setting a strategic course, in order to share in the rapid growth in the key Chinese market on a long-term and significant basis", explains Eberspaecher CEO Dr. Thomas Wuensche.

Because of strict new limits, for the first time technologies for exhaust-gas aftertreatment on the Western model are also being required in the Middle Kingdom. From January 2012 China IV, a standard comparable with Euro 4, will apply to commercial vehicles. In the car sector too, the limits will be brought into line with the Euro 4 for cars on a nationwide basis – starting in July 2011 with gasoline and natural gas and from July 2013 on for Diesel.

Richard Hu, General Manager of the new Eberspaecher subsidiary, stresses: "Not only are we supporting our customers in the implementation of the future exhaust gas standards for environmentally compatible mobility in China, we can also adapt our solutions to specific market conditions on the spot".

In addition to development and sales, Eberspaecher will produce muffler assemblies and catalytic converters for cars as well as complete exhaust systems for commercial vehicles on the site.
