2015-05-11 13:08 6383

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Vietnamese food and beverage (F&B) market has shown on-going and robust growth across numerous categories, and this is expected to continue based on a growing population, urbanisation, and an increasingly affluent population with higher disposable incomes.

This is supported by the recent Innova Market Insights 'Food and Beverage Trends in Vietnam' report which showed the number of new F&B product launches tracked increasing by 52 percent from 2008 to 2013, averaging 9 percent annual growth. Bakeries were the fastest growing category, and in 2014 over 16 percent of all new launches tracked were for bakery products. Confectionary, hot drinks, meat, fish eggs, and sauces and seasonings were the following fastest growing categories for product launch activities last year. Within the bakery segment, cakes - pastries and sweets remained the largest category, representing 34 percent of new product launches tracked in 2014, while bread and bread products were the fastest growing sub-category with a 32 percent share of new launches in bakery products.

To further strengthen Vietnam's and the regions F&B industry, Fi Vietnam, the only expo dedicated exclusively to food ingredients, will again be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) on 20 - 22 May, 2015. "Fi Vietnam 2015 is the largest, most comprehensive and best-attended event for food and beverage industry professionals in the Mekong River Delta region," noted UBM Asia (Thailand) Business Director, Rungphech (Rose) Chitanuwat. "Moreover, Fi Vietnam 2015 is so much more than just a trade show - offering conferences, seminars and unsurpassed networking opportunities that add value to the event, attract industry visitors, and help you get the most out of your time onsite," she said.

If you want to grow your business and ensure the new products you develop are a success, the Fi Vietnam 2015 - VAFoST international conference 'Ingredients for Success - Connecting Food Product Developers with Consumers' (21st May 2015) is meant for you. The informative conference features leading local and international speakers, and addresses key issues; Vietnamese consumers' insights about food ingredients, updates on food safety regulations, safe alternatives for texture, flavor and color-enhancing additives in traditional foods, nanotechnology in food product development, advances in functional foods and preservatives while preserving health.

UBM is excited to again support the prestigious VAFoST Young Talent Competition. "UBM is always looking to the future industry, we aim to support students and encourage them to become the next generation of food scientists. The competition is a national award, and requires participants to provide a written proposal, an oral presentation and a poster presentation at Fi Vietnam 2015. Each participating team will create an innovative new food product concept, much like a commercial product development team. The competition provides a valuable professional development opportunity for Vietnamese students to improve their creative and scientific skills working as a team, and a link between industry, students and VAFoST. Importantly, it allows food industry representatives the opportunity to spot talented students for potential employment", explained Chitanuwat. "UBM has supported students by providing funds to the 20 teams to develop their competition entries. And we also support space to show case their development in the show," she added.

There is also a comprehensive seminar program from leading exhibitors who will be presenting their latest products, technologies and developments.

With just a few weeks to go, be sure to mark your calendar and make plans to visit Fi Vietnam 2015 - Vietnam's most important and exciting gathering of ingredient suppliers, distributors and buyers for the food and beverage industries. Register for your free pass at www.fi-vietnam.net.
