Frbiz Analyzes 2010 China Nonferrous Metal Industry Market Status

2010-09-17 22:05 1880

BEIJING, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Frbiz.com one of China's leading B2B search platforms, analyzes the 2010 China nonferrous metal industry market status.

Frbiz reports that China's nonferrous metal industry has gradually emerged from the shadow of the financial crisis, showing a growing trend that has now actually slowed down. The output has increased, while imports have dropped slightly, but industry value-added growth is slowing, with increased benefits. Meanwhile, industry development problems have been gradually revealed: industrial concentration is low; there is high dependence on external resources, there is frequent trade friction.

    Basic situation:

    1. Output has slightly increased; fixed assets investment has rapid growth.

In the first half-year, China had ten kinds of non-ferrous metal production reaching a total of 15.295 million tons, year-on-year increased 31.3%, and growth rate down 4.7%.

China's non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry completed fixed assets investments of 165.6 billion RMB, year-on-year increased 34.3% with increase range higher than 8.8%.

    2. Exports decline; non-ferrous metal product imports volume falls.

In the first half-year, China exported crude aluminum totaling 107,594 tons, year-on-year increased 1453.9%. Overall, in 2010, China's aluminum exports have fluctuated greatly, after experiencing the first three months of downturn; April experienced a huge increase, but May and June there was a decline. In addition, compared with 2009, there has been huge growth.

    3. Prices down overall, but still up year-on-year.

During the first half year, the average price of electrolytic copper was 57,206 RMB/ton. In 2010, electrolytic copper prices have fluctuated. In February there was a slide, and in March-April they climbed again, but in May and June once again they dropped.

    Overall problem:

Lacking resources, China's non-ferrous metal industry is dependent on external raw materials. Copper materials are currently at 70% from external sources, while aluminum materials are at more than 50%, and zinc more than 40%. Although China imports large amounts of non-ferrous metal resources from abroad each year, there is still no fixed price.

    Trade friction troubled industry development.

With China's non-ferrous metal processing technology progress, the product quality has improved markedly, as copper pipe and highly value-added aluminum and aluminum foil products have rapidly increased exports. While some countries are still in international financial crisis and still abuse the WTO rules, China's copper aluminum producers have received trade relief. In recent years, the number of cases of trade friction and their impact has brought great effect on the non-ferrous industry.
