Frost & Sullivan: Assessing the Future of Commercial Aviation in ASEAN

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, March 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Frost & Sullivan will be hosting the ASEAN Commercial Aviation Conference on 28 March 2013 at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2013 in Langkawi. With the support its knowledge partner, HW LIMA, Frost & Sullivan and various industry experts will discuss the future of commercial aviation in the ASEAN region.

According to Neil Dave, Consulting Analyst, Aerospace & Defense, Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific, "The ASEAN aviation market will develop significantly in the next few years with considerable increases in infrastructure investment and planned policies in the making which will encourage this growth momentum."

Passenger traffic across airports in the ASEAN region is expected to grow by a modest 1.73% CAGR during the period of 2011 to 2017 reaching close to 318 million passengers by 2017.

"The introduction of LCCs along with the broadening network of airline routes being offered in the region is expected to continue to drive growth of commercial aviation along, encouraging passengers to continue and increase travelling by air," added Dave.

Introduced for the first time, the ASEAN Commercial Aviation Conference addresses current situations faced by key stakeholders in the commercial aviation industry revolving around three main topics; 'Current Industry Status', 'Airline's New Business Models' and 'Reducing Costs'. The inaugural ASEAN Commercial Aviation Conference will study the consequences of the current economic climate and address the new thinking by airlines to counter downturn.

The half-day conference includes a panel discussion on the future of commercial aviation in the ASEAN region as well as presentations from various industry experts on growing MRO Market Opportunities and recent trends in ASEAN. The conference will close with the ASEAN Commercial Aviation Awards.

The ASEAN Commercial Aviation Awards aims to recognize, reward and celebrate extraordinary achievements by members of the ASEAN commercial aviation community for the year 2012.
