HL&C Awarded the Certificate of Merit -- HSBC Living Business Awards

HONG KONG, Dec. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- H L&C Employment Agency Ltd. was awarded the Certificate of Merit at the HSBC Living Business Awards Recognition Ceremony 2010 in recognition of its commitment to good corporate citizenship, which prides its employees and customers. The ceremony was organized by HSBC.

Supported by the Business Environment Council (BEC) and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), HSBC Living Business Awards is a corporate responsibility (CR) program designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) become more profitable and productive by implementing socially and environmentally responsible business practices. The Awards recognize local SMEs who have made outstanding contribution to the environment and community in Hong Kong to sustain long-term business success. All applications will be judged based on the following four criteria: (1) Commitment to environmental protection; (2) Excellence in employee management; (3) Achievements in community development; (4) Overall management quality and effectiveness. HL&C takes a serious of measures in its daily work to implement corporate social responsibility and receives the certificate of merit of HSBC Living Business Awards 2010.

To reduce its to environment impact daily operation, HL&C adopts various measures including: firstly, dividing office into different lighting and temperature control zones and turning off lights and air-conditioners when not in use to reduce unnecessary waste; secondly, selecting environment friendly hardware in IT purchasing and using trusteeship service provided by data center for all the key information systems to reduce the energy consumption and wiring requirement in office; thirdly, since there are lots of files in daily work, to reduce paper waste, HL&C manages to receive fax via Email and make communication with suppliers like insurance companies using EDI instead of conventional paper-based record besides encouraging double-sided printing; fourthly, through internally running workflow computer system, HL&C reduces greatly the repeat of tables and reports and build a lean supply chain between Hong Kong offices and subsidiary companies in Indonesia and Philippines.

HL&C's commitment to society is also shown in employee management, community caring and overall management. To increase the communication and solidarity among employees, HL&C hosts various group activities for employees. It also encourages volunteering and offers paid-leave for employees who join volunteer activities in working day. It has been donating money to non-profit charities during the past ten years by appropriating money of certain ratio every year, including The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Associations of Hong Kong, Buddhist Society For The Aged Ltd., The HK Elderly Association Ltd., Friends of Aged People, Lord Grace Service Society Ltd., Shelter Society Services Centre, Tsz Wan Shan Kai Fong Welfare Association Ltd. and so on. To improve overall management of the company, HL&C sets proper approaches for relevant sides to express their opinions on company and passed ISO9000:2001 certification last year to improve the service quality.

It is recognized in HL&C that as good corporate citizenship, enterprises should help solve social problems within its power.
