IQPC: China Set to Be Leader in SCADA by 2020

BEIJING, May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Organized by IQPC Singapore, a survey conducted with 1, 855 respondents shows 71.2 percent of the respondents believe that China will lead the way in SCADA technologies and implementation by the year 2020.

America and Europe are tied for second place with 30.8 percent of the respondents while surprisingly other emerging markets like India and South East Asia will follow with 17.3 percent and 13.5 percent of the respondents’ votes.

Japan and Australia received 9.6 percent of the respondents vote while Korea had 3.8 percent of the respondents’ votes.

Meanwhile, half of those polled also believe that intelligent system control is one technology which will impact SCADA systems in the future. 29.6 Smart grid integration is another technology that may have a similar impact on SCADA systems. The remaining technologies receive 25.9 percent of the vote.

SCADA Spending

To address the above challenges that SCADA systems will face, respondents claim that systems upgrading (46.3%) will be where most of the spend will be by the year 2015 followed closely by system integration (44.4 %) and the research and development of technology (31.5%).

A fifth of the respondents are planning to purchase new systems while 14.8 percent of the respondents will be splashing the cash on training.
